hey Nigel , nice shot , i think it is a tiger lily. ( your dof could be a little less to help isolate the flower , what was your f ? )

Yes, it is a Lillium. I'm not sure which variety though. We have some like that growing in our gardens too, except they are a little more orange in colour. Great clarity on this one Nigel, the colours turned out lovely. I like the folded edges on the petals.

I posted a shot of the exact same flower a few days ago =) Good job except for the top and bottom petals cut off out of the pic. Other than that, great capture!

Yes, love, it's a lily and a beauty. Great clarity. Wonderful color. Good compostition. Right on track. I don't agree that cropping portions of the petals detracts from the image necessarily. Certainly not in this case. The only comment I would make on cropping concerns the black borders at top and bottom. High resolution digital images come in at a 16x9 ratio so when we set them up for monitor viewing, they don't fit right. I would rather see you crop from the sides to the specified size and get rid of the black. I see this on a lot of beautiful Caedes submissions and sometimes it really detracts from the overall effect. Are you getting this everybody? Love your flowers, Nigel. Keep them coming. anne

The clarity is beautiful....and thankfully...my monitor and toolbar views work perfectly with the cropped area....
so no complaint from me!

That focus looks pretty good. I guess the composition is a little empty on the right, but the flower has been captured so well.
