It's not the prettiest of bridges, but the light I caught it in really appealed to me. This is as shot, promise, no digital trickery whatsoever!

Lot to look at in this photo. Truck on bridge, river, tower overlooking bridge, store fronts on wharf, lights and of course the bridge. Everything seems to revolve around the bridge. Are those ladders on side of bridge? I too like the lighting. Good post.

Great shades of blue, good and long depth perception, and the bridge itself separating the sky from the water. Beautiful picture, Nigel.

Not the prettiest of bridges? It's one of the prettiest modern bridges I've seen!

A great photograph is a full expression of what one feels about what is being photographed in the deepest sense, and is, thereby, a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety. (Ansel Adams)

Nigel, this is absolutely a 10/10! Your comp has such stong lines drawing one over the bridge. The colors are excellent and I especially like the way the color of that one lampost stands out against the building. This goes straight in the favs!

it certainly isn't ugly Nigel ....I expect you took this one early morning or late afternoon when the sun was low - it has created a lovely glow on the side of the bridge! amazing perspective - I would say an excellent shot! ..and about digital trickery - I think it is all part of digital photography so do whatever you feel necessary to make your image as good as you want it to look - I do! lol! ...but I have to say I am always really pleased if a photograph turns out without having to apply any enhancements! :)

I personally think it's a great looking bridge, very interesting.... not the usual run of the mill sort of thing you see & beautifully photographed as well.

Now, Nigel, I seem to remember that you had an upload not too long ago of a building that was modern and you were calling it ugly, unless my memory fails me. I think this bridge is also suffering the same sort of thought process on your part. Read the comments, my friend. This is a lovely bridge and the light is perfect!! :)

Nigel,
I have to disagree with some of the previos comments and share your view that the bridge is not very attractive (I also have seen it under less flattering light conditions). But you have turned into a very good and interesting picture, which has really caught my eyes. I like how the colours of the bridge match with those of the river. Compliments,

I love the way the arches under the structure are visible in this pic really displaying its shape well. A great photo, I think and good colour too.
