This one was taken at Clacton on Sea a few weeks ago. The Martello Towers were defences against the French in the Napoleonic Wars and were built throughout the British Empire. There were a few upshots of this picture for me - learning how to combine two shots afterwards for better exposure and deciding to invest in a set of filters as a result!

I like the way you established your horizon and also the use of the tall green grass as a diagonal. I like the contrasting blues and greens and the sunset added many other colors to the work. I like your compostion on this shot and I like the work very much.

I haven't tried filters yet so you are doing well on the learning curve! Great color and depth here.

I like the way you end your days. The grasses in foreground leads the eyes to the scene beyond, which is spectacular. The information and link were good touches. Congratulations on a super post Nigel.

Nigel,
the sky is simply fantastic, but if you have combined two shots with idfferent exposures the front is still too dark in my opinion.

whoever thought up the name Clacton on Sea needs shooting! - such an unromantic name! lol! ....but a very romantic photo Nigel - a beautiful sunset! I really like the way you took the photo low down bringing the grasses and sand into the foreground!

You got just the right amount of brightness in the foreground. It's well lit yet doesn't take away from the colorful sunset. That sky is unbelievable. I look forward to your filtered shots in future!

I assume you mean that you invested in filters for your lenses? However you accomplished this, you certainly got a great scene. I think that the foreground is good in this light...any lighter and I think because it is so interesting, not only in a physical sense, but in its angle, that it might have distracted from the whole composition. If you'd like me to be picky....I would have taken out the sign in the middle. I'm a clone freak, so don't mind me...lol...

That is a wonderful shot.
Nice composition and angle, fantastic colour!
I'd also take out the sign, but overall this is wonderful.
