We've had nothing but white skies and gloom in London for weeks now but we did get a blast of sun last weekend. Here he is - with his hat on, as Noel Coward would have said! This is the Regent's Canal in Islington, near where I live.

Good shooting making the sun the focal point without burning out all the beautiful detail surrounding the canal. A part of London I've never seen!

In this, I like looking at all the different types of buildings. You got the old and the new, but I particularly like the one covered in Ivy or whatever. The sun sure is shining brightly, and I don't know how you got such a good picture staring right at it. Good work, Nigel. I bet you had a welders mask on when you took this, right?

What a great shot! Your perspective on the buildings is excellent, and capturing the sun the way you did is outstanding! Everyone needs a little sunshine in their lives! Hope you get lots more!

I didn't realize London had waterways like this. I like it Sir Nigel. One of these days I will venture to your part of the world. I love the angle and the halo around the sun. I like the Noel Coward reference as well. Excellent post.

Great shot brilliant colours and good composition. Looking at Google Earth to see where Regent's canal is as I 'll be in
London during July and try to get some pictures. Was there in March but all I got was grey skies. Have a nice Summer.

What sort of filter do you have to use to be able to shoot into the sun? Great shot of the canal. My niece lives near the canal in Little Venice so I'll make sure she sees this picture. Tell me, were you walking on the water again to get this shot?

ooer i found this lurking somewhere in my long list of havnt commented on yet... lol... it ever grows and i never catch up these days cos i seem to get about 50 a day at the moment!
love the view, you have lots of things going on in that shot, the little tree and benches, a crane, the old buildings with ivy and the glass building too. makes for a pleasing view, im guessing you used a polariser on the sky, i like the look, good job mr moore.

Great shot Nigel to catch the sun full on without massive over exposure. Did you use filters of any kind? I really like your London shots, we get to see places that you don't normally see, i.e non touristy..oh is there such a word?
