It's the Queen's birthday today and as is tradition, there was a fly-past. This is a Nimrod with fighter escort as it flew over my flat!

September 2,1995 I watched a British Nimrod MR3 maritime patrol aircraft crash into Lake Ontario here in Toronto...I'll never forget it...so, in addition to your great shot, your mention of the Nimrod caught my attention...that aside, birthday greetings from Canada to Her Majesty...certainly a nice way to recognize ones' birthday...thanks for sharing.

Super capture, Nigel. I don't imagine you were able to get many shots off in the time it takes for these to fly by!

The Queens Birthday??? When I was there I was told it was the Queens birthday then! How many birthdays does SHE get in a year??? I think she just likes presents, lol! Although I didn't see any cool fly overs like this so maybe I was misinformed ;) Nice shot Nigel

I have to respond to that one Lisa - she has two. Her real birthday in April and her official one - the anniversary of the date she came to the throne - in June. The ceremony's all reserved for this one!

This is really good. It's so clear. If they were passing your flat shouldn't you have invited them in for a cup of tea?

This is an awesome shot, Nigel. I love the underneath angle. You got lots of detail in the picture, and the sky with the clouds makes a great backdrop. I love this picture.

Great shot Sir Nigel and just how old is the Queen? Seems like she has been around all my life and I'm older than dirt. lol The clarity is great. I wonder how one lays on their back and uses tripod. Hope that doesn't sound vulgar. Great photo.

Another fascinating military upload Nigel
Hey I'm sure the Queen was impressed. :o) Good focus, & spot on exposure compensation. I seem to recall the Nimrod's a very old spy plane that cost the taxpayers, an arm, & a leg to upgrade in the late 70's.
P.S I never saw this one in the vb. Lol
