More from the Lake District. We'd walked along the top of the fells on the left and then down into the valley. At the bottom is a stream called the Troutbeck - beck means stream apparently.

What has happened, Nigel? Recently your images have taken on an incredible depth and 'realness'. Not that your stuff isn't always high quality, it's just there's a certain extra something with the lighting. Different f stops and shutter speeds perhaps? Whatever it is, I really do like it. This is beautiful.

This old gate reminds me some places in the Sardinia island where the borderline are made up by stones. The picture itself is very beautiful, I really like the deep green in contrast with stormy weather coming up.
Yet another example of Nigel's precision together with a natural ability to male a simple picture original and interesting.
Thanks for having leveraged this.

wow stunning Nigel - lovvvvvvvvve it! of course I do - now I have to go out and fine a gate to photograph! lol! They make excellent foregrounds to a picture, especially when the scenery beyond is this beautiful! ...and Cindy is right this has a real depth to it - in contrast and light - is it HDR?

As always you attention to the fine details is evident across the board in this image. The fine texture in the wood gate is almost touchable on screen. A very well thought out presentation that should most certainly garner high marks.

A wonderful shot Nigel. The detail is fantastic especially in the background where you might expect it to drop off. Dry-stone walls, wooden gates, hills and fells AND a wonderful louring sky - what more could a man ask for?

Boy, this looks familiar. I thought it was the same place where Paul Gerritsen took his image of "The Guardian"-that rooster perched on top of a fence gate, but I guess not. Great moody scene.

It could pass for one of Owd Timer's posts Sir Nigel. It is great. Your use of light once again has been accomplished. The taking your time and publishing less approach to insure quality reminds me of a old wine commercial.

i like this one too, i think most stuff has already been said, your fault im late commenting though cos i wasnt home yesterday , hahah. i like the ortons on the front part, it really makes the greens stand out and the definition of the grasses in the foreground help lend this shot alot of depth if that makes sense. love the textures of the wall and even that pole resting up there too, you got a goodun here!

Well, it's all true, all that's been said, so I'll just take my copy to enjoy and say no more!
