I never did finish my Dorset series earlier this year so I am continuing regardless of the gap! This was Mupe Bay again, my very favourite of all the locations. Being there as the sun came up was a fantastic experience and I was very lucky with the cloud formations that appeared.

I'm glad you had your camera to hand as it would have been a crime if you'd missed an opportunity to capture this composition.

Interesting how the rock on the horizon has a false perspective to make it look like a mountain.

Now that is great Sir Nigel. The vertical really give it a sense of movement. It looks like a great spirit speeding across the sky. The foreground reflects this movement. The lighting on the rocks is perfect. That about covers it. lol
Wonderful work.

This has a lot going for it...superb composition, colourations and detail. The grain however takes away imo...the smooth gradation of colour and tones is missing, particularly in the sky portion. Seems you pushed the saturation and sharpening a tad too far...again just my opinion. The pov on this is spot on in my view and along with the dramatic sky adds so much power to the capture...once again, this is one dramatic and well thought out and beautifully constructed image and for that it deserves much credit. It certainly enforces my opinion of your artistic skill. Cheers Nigel

There is a theory in our camera club where we have weekly guests to show off their work!...and most of these 'professionals' regard the 'Vertical Landscapes' far superior than horizontal ones!...Most of our memebres are beginning to think along those lines too!..

I love this one, so outstanding in detail and composition, the 'vertical' mode really pulls the eye into the scape!... and the 'rule of thirds' don't apply to this one!..

well done mate, and thanks!...

I wonder if you used a cokin type kit, or photoshopped this later to get that gradient effect in the sky Sir Nigel. My only real niggle is some of the rocks appeared a little overexposed in places.
You captured a pretty unique combination of sea, land, & sky, & the cloud formation is outstanding.
While I couldn't equal your shot I'll give you a 9/10 perfection is rarely acheived. Lol

Nigel, your Mupe Bay photo is the very first portrait image I've ever downloaded off Caedes. They've always only been horizontal for use as wallpapers on my monitor. This one is such an absolute stunner that, with your kind permission, I think I'm going to use it as a test for my new Epson 9880 photo printer. At 44" high, it should make a framed beauty on the wall. The natural colors, from the deep blues of the sky, red-gold rocks in the distance, to the transparent green cast of the water, is a balm to my eyes. Your excellent dof, without distortion of the horizon line, makes this one of the finest I've seen in a long time. If this comes up in the voting booth I'm giving it a 10... only because they won't allow a 25 to be entered. Thank you.

The drama and enchantment in this beautiful photo gives this such a special spot in my heart. How awesome that these colours come together as they do. Two distinct shades of bloo, and yet so very passionate together. It's as tho the sky and the sea literally exploded. Must be a most wonderful spot. Verena
