It's that time of year again! I was out yesterday in Epping Forest and found a new part that I've not been to before. It's called the Honey Lane Quarter and it has this beautiful stand of beech trees, which I photographed just before sunset.

Such a great use of available light Sir Nigel. I like how the limb seems to be out on its own and somehow detached from the rest of the scene.

Sun of a Beech that is a good shot.

It would have been a good shot at any time of day, but catching the lowered rays of the afternoon sun in this setting makes it a standout shot. Very nice, Nigel.

There is a reason you are one of the best contributors to this site...this image in my opinion speaks to your thought process and artistic eye...the light play is excellent and the composition with the bough just nicely touching the b/g leads the eye perfectly into the scene...the tree itself has a bonsai look...this is not the first time you have injected zen into your work...great work my friend...keep on keeping on!
