Apophysis and a tutorial at ArcaneFractals.com. Much love to them for getting me in the groove there, I must say. I love the colors especially in this.

Very nice patterns and design. I like the colours, too - and it does suggest the night sky exploding firework-like. My main criticism would be that it seems a bit grainy but that is (I believe) relatively easy to take care of. Which is to say, I don't know how to do it in Apop. but plenty of others seem to. (For similar problems with other programmes, I render at larger size and scale down, but I there are other tricks with flames - especially in Apop., I think.)

The centre looks good even now, but I'd really like to see this rendered more smoothly to bring out the detailed lines further out.

Very cool. To me it seems to have a glass web kind of feel, not a spider web though, maybe a decorative web. I do have to agree about the graininess though. I usually render at 2560x1920px, quality of 8000 (or 4k) filter radius of 0.2 and oversample as much as my RAM will let me but at least 2. After the image is rendered, I take it into Photoshop, do whatever I'm going to do and resize it to 1600x1200 to smooth some of the grain. Some of the others may have some other setting than this that may be better though.

But hey, this is an awesome flame. Keep it up!

Thanks for the input, both of you. I'm still learning how to use these programs, and your tips are incredibly helpful.
