First day with your DSLR? Well I can see you're having fun and starting off very well. I love geometric captures and this one is a very nice example. The tall structure on the right is a little washed but shooting photos with extremes in contrast are always tough to do, the camera gets easily confused with the difference and usually selects the darker are to adjust to. If you are using a tripod, allowing you to shoot copies of the exact same scene, you might try a variety of shutter speeds. You may discover that you've captured one image where the darker area is just right and another there allows the lighter area to be just what you're wanting. Combining the properly portions of different photos (with enough practice) can sometimes give you the perfect shot. It also helps a lot to have Photoshop. A very nice early effort and into my favs, thanks for sharing it.
