WOW...most talented daughter and beautiful image..10 all the way

I was drawn to look at this. The shape and style of the figure are eyecatching and the balance with the bottom of her skirt and the lamp work well. The only thing that didn't quite sit with me was her face. It looks a bit hard. I think that this is because the highlight on the right side of her face (our left) is a bit strong. And her left eye is open just a fraction wide so that it does not quite balance her face. Hope this helps.

This is a wonderful picture; I wish that I, myself, were able to draw that well. The arms are a bit long, and the hair doesn't seem to fit quite right, but the rest really draws one's eye away from noticing.

The design of the dress is gorgeous, as well, and beautifully done. Thank you very much for sharing her work.

I'm a drawer too, and I hate disagreeing with people, but I actually like the look of her face. She really has a presence and a power to her. It seems like most people of that "world" would cower or lower their heads at the sight of her, although she is beautiful.
Is this a Charcoal drawn with an eraser? She might know what I mean lol. And also, you have the artistic talent too Nathan! She just expresses that artistic talent in a different way ^^

Thanks for all the comments and compliments. To answer some questions, it is a pencil drawing (the color comes from an blending overlay that I did in Photoshop). She uses kneaded eraser to pull highlights sometimes. We appreciate your feedback. It's so interesting to get the varied comments and responses.

It's a beautiful picture. Your daughter is a fantastic artist, the details and shading is just amazing. Personally, I don't really like the hair, but that's just my preference in hair styles ;~). But I love the dress, the sleeves and the flowing motion at the bottom is really cool. Its a wonderful drawing.

I had so much fun creating this picture, especially since I don't usually finish my fantasy drawings in such detail: It was something new for me too. I know the arms are too long, its something that I've found in several of my drawings after the fact. The hair is in imitation of a style used by the children's illustrating team Leo and Diane Dillon. Would anyone be interested in seeing any more of my work?

this picture shows such grace and power that are well complimented. The ability to show such emotion with a single pencil and paper is an ability only true artists have and your daughter is indeed an artist. Her ability to do this is a gift with potential. Make sure to continue to encourage her.

Nathan, your daughter is really amazing. I adore this image and also her past "Water Sprites".... The only qualm with this piece is the hair, I don't think it becomes the general mood. But, that's just me. Rachael is obviously authorized to do anything here; as it is genious. An obvious 10/10 from me! :D

Also: if the enchantress is in pencil (graphite?), how is most of the background dark? Surely it's not all shaded in...?

i really like this picture. her dress is awesome. i want one just like it. i dont like her hair tho. it looks like maybe it should be long anf lowing not really like an afro like i think it looks. a 9.5 out of 10 for rachael. funny, thats my nieces name.

another fine piece of work, very nice contrast, the details are great and the drapery are very well done, i really like the way you use other elements to help frame her in, especially the moon and the trees, the hair looks a bit unusual for an Enchantress but i like it. (something new to think about) anatomically speaking her arms are a bit long, but you did a great job at hiding that with the...thingy that wrap aroud her arms, i didnt' notice it until i read the commands. One of the most important skills i leaned in the past as an artist is the ability to hide my own mistake. Her neck area looks a bit empty, maybe add a jewl or two. once again, congratulation to Rachael and Dad again for a job well done. sorry, to ramble on and on but hope you'll find the conmmands helpful. I love to see more of her work. Can't wait to see what you can do in 3D.

Have finally made it to the Illustrations gallery, to see this. Beautiful work. My daughter does drawings - I showed her this and she had one word to say, but with a lot of feeling; "nice".

Another brilliant drawing form your daughter. She has an incredible talent for drawing. This is great! I love the soft blue colour to it and I think it would make an amazing collaboration. Just a thought ; )

the drawing is beautiful. i don't know if anyone else picked up on this (didn't feel like reading all the posts) but the left arm is quite a bit longer than it should be. That, and the reason some of you don't seem to like the face is that the nose and mouth are not completely centered with the chin...if you were to look at the enchantress in person, her nose and mouth would seem to come out of the right side of her face! It's actually hidden pretty well...this is because of the shading on the left side of the face, which makes it appear to be proportionately correct. Other than those things, pic is gorgeous. good job well done =) Can't wait to see more...

The true highlight of the image to me is the detail within the clothes, especially at the bottom of the dress. It is hard to draw clothes and making them "hang" realistically but Rachel has accomplished it here. Nice work.

Excellent drawing with exceptional detail. The only thing I would change (which is merely my personal preferance) would be instead of the thick, fuzzy, large hairstyle, thick golden locks or (as the artist may have been tryin to draw more of a darkish feeling) strait black hair pasted to her pale complexion, wraping around he slender neck. Again this is only my personal taste. Great job!

OMG...I had not seen this before.! She drew this??!!!! It's absolutely mind bogglingly amazing!!!! Look at the many years its been here and how many views and downloads...just awesome. I especially like the bottom of the dress, the folds are hard to draw. I tried when I went to art school, and it is difficult. But she did wonderful. I like the whole thing so much, altho I feel she should have flowing soft hair to bring out her beauty more. All the skin looks so real. Soft and feminine.
I hope she will make wonderful use of this talent. Someone who could hire her artwork and help her do more and let many others enjoy it also. I do pen and ink work as you know, but THIS drawing is absolutely wicked good!! Congrats to her. Verena
