Ok, Alexis. You mentioned black opals, and I had to go find out what they look like. And they're beautiful. This is a simulation of a black opal using fractals I've created in Tierrazon, Vchira, and others. I know it's not as pretty as the real item, but let me know what you think.

You have done it.. If I didn't know that was a "virtual" black opal, I would pick it up and surround it with golden beads.. Beautiful.. I don't know how anyone could do better.

I don't think they get better than this. Opals are my birthstone and the black or fire opals are by far the most beautiful. This is a true gem if I've ever seen one!

Wow, Lovely! Black Opals are found at Lightning Ridge, Australia...they are very beautiful, and said to have the most intense fire. I have one, and this one is just a pretty...AND it can go on my desktop, I don't have to worry about someone robbing me for it, and it is free for any who view it. To me, sounds like a perfect opal.

PS...Black opals are not black at all, rather they are a shade of blue that is hard to describe in words that could do it justice...but Nathan, you have captured the essence and color of a black opal magnificently!!! How did you know that my other passion is collecting all types of opal from all over the world. The first recorded location of opal is in an area which is now part of the Czech Republic. It was first mentioned in the era of the early Roman Republic. Today small quantities of opal is found there. I have several pieces in my collection. As far as Black Opal goes I have some from: The US (Virgin Valley Nevada), (The Josephine Mine In the Ochoco Mts. in Oregon---New find here, less than three years old), Indonesia, Australia, Brazil, Ethiopia, and Tanzania (I have 7/8 of all the precious opal found there).
You have indeed captured the essence of Black Opal. I have to agree with akashastrega, a 10 from me (only because I can't give it a 20).

My eyes opend wide in amazement and I held my breath for at least ten seconds while I looked at your creation and then WOWWWW. I MUST write to the author. Black opal is my favorite stone. There are about 15 of your pieces of art I absolutely love. One request : do you know your time of birth? It's because I am into astrology and I would like to see the chart of such an amazing artist !
