This started as an experiment with gradients in Photoshop, and kept getting more sinister. I manipulated a photo of my brother (as a child) into it. Adding the face gave it the feeling of being trapped. It seems like some amorphous monster is reaching out of his head to grab him and suck him back into the dream. Anyway, this is a little on the dark side for me - most of my work is happier than this.

Its great.. i really like this nightmareish dream scene... very well manipulated.. and i'm sure we all have had nightmares like this where you cant make out the face.. creepy but great.. good luck in the contest Nathan.. =)

Beautifully done Nathan. I like that you have made it out to be a little more nightmarish. Well actually I don't know if thats what you entended to do, but thats just what I see lol! And don't worry about it being to dark, dark is good sometimes!

Yes this has happened to me now that u sparked my brain cells. Your actually in a dream and your thinking for a few moments: get me out get me out! (b/c u know its a dream). Its usually dreams with furry german shepards chasing me when im locked in a room (ive had this one i think 3 times so far, memory wise)...one of the very few dreams i remember.

Disturbing.....but that's what makes it fantastic! I say "disturbing" because the realism of a sibling or family member and the whole image looking so much like a dream that you can see and almost figure it out and it slips back out of our conscious awareness....and leaves you wondering. This one just has so much depth { in my opinion} and definitely gonna be tough to beat ! Great work, " teach!" :) Best of luck!

Most of us would rather remember our happy dreams, but morbid dreams such as these tend to get pushed out to the back of the mind; yet they reflect our innermost dreads and insecurities. Very good representation of the contest theme "dreams".
