I took this back in 1995 using a manual 35mm Pentax. No filters were used. My only regret...not having a digital camera. This is from a scan of the 8x10 photo print/enlargement I had made at the time. Barring the "noise" in the photo, this is the best photo of Haystack Rock I've seen at sunset. Cannon Beach is located on the nothern Oregon coast, about 1 hour south of Astoria.

Beautiful photo. I love the gentle colors in the sky and the relections in the water, especially compared to the shockingly large black sillouhette of the rock! Wonderful job.

I don't really comment on pictures, but Haystack Rock is one of my favorite places to go see in the summer, and this is a wonderful picture of it.

Looks like a spectacular spot. Only one thing to do... Get back there with a better camera and re-shoot. ;) JK. I particularly like the composition (and that bird adds some interest to the whole actually). If it had been clearer it would have been worthy of National Geographic. ;)

Hi..I've lived an hour from the Oregon Coast for over 20 yrs..and always enjoy seeing photos of the Haystacks at Cannon Beach...This is a nice photo...just wish it were sharper...and not quite as dark..but its still a great shot for sure.
