I took my life into my hands to get this Scarce Swallowtail. A foot behind it was a 60 foot drop into a dried up river gorge! Worth the effort though:)

I applaud your efforts! However, my praise is tainted with some envy. To see this uncommon beauty on a photo is a treat in itself. But to have seen one in front of you as you have, must have been amazing. The photo itself is grand. The shallow DOF has made all of the detail of the wings stand out. The probiscus dipping in to the flower of that thistle is also a top element to your work here. Well done.
