This, the first in an occasional series of the famous White Horses of Wiltshire, is of Westbury White Horse the oldest. It was originally cut in the early 1700s. For more information look here. The reason for the title? - Directly above the horse is a hanglider, this hill being a favourite spot as a launch site!

It is amazing to learn, what wonderful things happen in this world. I have never heard about that and in the first moment I thought I see some kind of drawing of a horse. This looks so awesome. Thanks for showing!

Cool...they were telling the aliens that we have horses. I imagine the aliens were greatly impressed. Nice work.

Amazing, this one must be seen full size! Never heard mention or saw these horses before, Steve. Good post and I thought the link most informative.

I've seen this horse and some of the other Wiltshire ones, and very much appreciate your fine photo of it. I'm downloading it. The hang glider adds even more interest. And the dreary day, well, that's part of the package, eh?

They travel far afield too - we have one not far away, in Waimate, much younger, made in the 1960's. If you are interested you can read about it and a few other 'foreigners' here http://wiltshirewhitehorses.org.uk/foreign.html

This is a beautiful shot Steve, and gives a very clear view of it.Nice title and the hanglider adds interest. :)
