Pomegranates are wonderful!! Its very interesting that you took such a photo. No one would ever think of this, unless yu have it around you. I dont think it growns in ORegon...is it just a favorite of yours? I like that you took this picture..the light in the wooden bowl is very good..and the colour of the wood brings out the wonderful reds in the fruit..nice job!!

Very nice ! Subtle & elegant. At first, I thought it was a painting. Those red seeds just seem to glow. A really nice job.

Verenabloo: My mom bought it and I happen to see it in the fruit basket... I just love pomegranates... they remind me of back home... (Sri Lanka). I've had this image in my head for quite a while and was very glad I could make it come alive...!!!

Laurengary:

I kept staring at it and thinking no one would believe me if I said it was a picture, it does have painted look to it. Thank you for your comment :)

Great.. finaly some stillife shot again...and a wonderful one.
the colors and d.o.f is marvelous.
I have just one tiny bit of comment on the composition.
In my opnion the Pomegranate it self could be get more attention in this image.
Now the bowl is quiet big.
Personaly I would prefer to have a closer look at the pomegranate.
Maybe you can study some stillife paintings of the old masters to see what they do with composition.
Anyway..I am glad you posted this one, and glad there are some more people who have an interest in stillife photography.
And i hope I will see some more of these from you in the future.
Its a difficult subject...but more then worth doing.

This is a wonderful image. I like the lighting and contrast. You have an excellent eye for matching colors and the whole composition of this picture is close to perfection.
Unfortunately your pic is underrated. I don't know the reason for it, in my opinion it's excellent work and you got a high rating from me.

This *photograph* is pretty amazing...!

This is my idea of what a still life should look like. Wonderfully composed, I just love the lighting and the textures in the wood and everything else about it. Terrific!

Everything within the bowl itself is just perfect in my opinion. I like the set-up, lighting, and bowl itself. The clarity is good and I'm not sure anything more macro would be as pleasing to view as this is. I am not all that sure about the background. Perhaps the dark is all that would work, but it seems to mask the great subject and possible textures of the bowl itself. The idea for this composition is pleasingly different so kudos for that! ;)

The color, light texture and flavor. All very sensual and classical. Beautiful set up.

You have given Pomegranetes a reason to exsist!
I personally think they are the most annoying fruit there is to eat, but here it just simply looks so inviting.
