I have so many pictures of this beautiful castle that I can't wait to share them all. So many different angles, close ups, etc. Peles Castle is in Sinaia, Romania. In 1873 Prince Carol of Hohensollern (I have a picture with a statue of him) came to Romania's throne in 1866, and started the building of the Peles Castle. The castle was finished in 1914. It was being built for a total of 48 years. I mean.. you should see the inside it, they really spared no expense, it's GORGEOUS. We weren't allowed to take pictures inside but if anyone wants to see some, I bought a booklet that has some pictures. I wish they would've let us take pictures if we paid a fee, I would've liked to take some of my own, but oh well =) it was really awesome.

I am going to keep it as my desktop for really some time now. Love this image ... I do love it ! Both the castle itself and the beautiful and wild area surrounding it. Funny enough the first thing I thought of was Dracula ... lol Certainly not with respect to the castle but the forest hilly area around.

Lol yeah Vlad Tepes (the vampire) is really popular in Romania. You're right the hilly area with the sharp top parts of the castle remind me of that too.

That's a very very beautiful castle and I really like the way you've captured it! How is the castle being used now?

This would have been a nice picture if you hadn't cropped the top and bottom off the castle. That's a bit disconcerting. Also the lens distortion which bends the trees to the right and the building to the left can be fix fairly easily in Photoshop. It certainly is a lovely castle.

Trin - the castle is open for visits for a fee. Unfortunately the king that owned that castle is still alive but had the castle taken away from him by communism.

Wow what an awesome castle! You photographed it well, and the photo is composed well. It's a shame you couldn't take pictures inside.

If they let you take pictures they wouldn't sell any brochures, it's all marketing. Lovely spare-no-expense place. Good angle to make it tower over you, as Peter said I'd like to see it from about fifty yards further back to get the base and more of the land beyond.
