STS109 This photo gives a great perspective of the size of the Giant Hubble Telescope as astronaut John M. Grunsfeld, payload commander, works in tandem with astronaut Richard M. Linnehan, mission specialist, as the two devote their attention to replacement of the Power Control Unit on the giant Hubble Space Telescope (HST). Thanks for viewing full size. You know, Terry, there was a time when I wanted to be an astronomer (not astronaut ;) but I hated physics (although I was very good at this subject) that's why when I went to my secondary school a vision of more biological&chemistry profile was forming in my mind. But when I look at your photos that memory from my childhood comes back. The universe is so stunning...

You must have a Gigantic Zoom Lens to get this shot. LOL. Just kidding. Nice Post.

<whistle> I have to say that I love the space pics you've been posting lately. They make beutiful wallpapr images. One day (probably when I'm really old and all the young whipper-snappers are buzzing around in floating cars) I want to look down at the earth like this astronaut is. -Stunning.

Obviously this is a professionally taken photograph, and as such is made up of the elements that you would expect to see in same; however, I can't quite imagine why they are in Earth's atmosphere with the clouds and the horizon line if they are working on the Hubble unless this was before it was launched, but in that case why would the astronauts be wearing full space gear?
I'm confused. :?( PJ

"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon
