Shot I took in Newport after a pretty nice sunset. I like it for desktop background because it's fairly dark and makes the icons easy to see =) I've been using Caedes for a long time, but this is the first photo I have uploaded. I'm actually a videographer, been doing that for about 9 years. Finally got my hands on a DSLR with a decent lens and I've been snapping photos whenever I can. Switching from video to stills is super fun! So many more options, and you have time to mess around with camera settings. Let me know what you think, positives and negatives. I am eager to learn more about photography, especially in regards to the tricks you CAN'T with video (such as long exposures.)

This is a beautiful capture Pat! The sunset is gorgeous and gives the water a silvery tone. The darkness and silhouettes are fabulous and I really like the faint glow from the lights on the pier. An excellent first post and an awesome desktop! I'm anxious to see more of your work:)

Thank you for your post. It is a well thought out composition. Playing around with exposure in order to achieve the smoothness of the water is nice. I myself am just getting interested in low light photography but I haven't ventured into the water just yet. You are doing great. Keep it up and give tips along the way.
