If I may..

As an accompanying image for an editorial piece.. it would work well.

Mind you, it still has a somewhat dystopic look, feel and mood. So, mission accomplished on the evocative front.


On the note of composition..

Since 'we' (us Westerners) typically read and view things from left to right.. purportedly, and from a creative consideration/perspective ... placing our subject of interest/focal subject does introduce some 'tension' within frame. As our eyes are arrested if it is placed in the left-hand side.

So..

I might have been tempted to move/offset the soldier some.

I do appreciate the creative aforethought and post processing execution to present to us a different take on the contest topic. (Def kudos for thinking outside the proverbial creative box.)
