If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. Henry D. Thoreau
This monarch sure posed for you, didn't it? Great capture of where the color counts-an open wingspread. Beautiful blooms also. What are they? Pretty post.

Great image PJ on all counts, especially the slightly offset composition which adds interest for me. It has a slight soft-focus effect or is maybe just a hair out of focus. This doesn't detract though from a great image. Cheers! - Dave
I love it when we get 'all natural' and this is magnificant. The clarity, background, composition, color, it's all perfect PJ. Excellent post and so glad you shared it.
How lovely it is when unexpected blessings come into my life to cheer me up and put a smile into my heart. Help me to pass them on, dear Lord. Fay Angus

that is just beautiful PJ! ...and I love that it is untouched - mainly because it has a soft touch to it - not all photographs suit being given the 'too sharp' look to enhance the detail - it is very tempting to touch up all photographs and lots of them are probably fine as they are. Just lovely! I have put it on my desktop.

Nicely composed PJ. They should be heading back to Mexico pretty soon. That is a fall flower I see in the photo, so we won't be seeing them around here too much longer. This is beautiful!
Never rebuke while you’re still indignant about a fault committed—wait until the next day, or even longer. Then calmly, and with a purer intention, make your reprimand. You’ll gain more by a friendly word than by a three-hour quarrel.

Superb PJ..we have these Monarchs over here too! beautiful Butterflies.....sometimes difficult to snap!..as they nearly always fold their wings in the sun!
Hi PJ, an absolutely stunning image! You captured this 'flying rainbow' under the very best of conditions, and lended your expertise to complete the most beautiful presentation!! A wonderful job PJ, you can go to the front of the class on this one, and maintain that status, with my approval! Seriously, it is a lovely photo, and that marvelous pink sedum, adjoined by the very green leaves, completes an awesome composition! Sincerely, Marilyn
Hey PJ, you sure know how to attract these beautiful butterflies! And they sit so still and pose for you on each shot. I love the contrast in the colors of the Sedum blooms, green and that gorgeous orange and black beauty. What wonderful colors to welcome in the Autumn season. Marvelous work my friend :)
I think this is my fav to date. The butterfly is just wonderful and as we come to the end of summer, it is a kind reminder that we have beauty all around us if we stand and wait to find it. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Catching up - sorry I'm late, PJ! This is absolutely beautiful! Perfect!! What are the flowers he's on? Those are the same as in my Greens photo and I wondered what they are - do you know? - Patty
I saw a peanut stand, heard a rubber band,
I saw a needle that winked its eye.
But I think I will have seen everything
When I see an elephant fly.

This is a really nice capture PJ! I really like the offset composition and the brilliant colors. Random bit of information: you can tell that this is a male monarch because of the black spots on it's lower wings.
