I think I've finally figured out that Sugar Maples don't all turn red. They turn a tri-color of orange, red, yellow with a backdrop of green..or red..or all orange..or all yellow :) confused? This may help LOOK HERE It's been cloudy and not condusive to capturing what color we have been getting, and today was a great instance..but even though Oct 3rd is officially "peak" here..really :)...I'll hope for more sun tomorrow and not a lot of wind tonight :)PJ

Well, it's still plenty pretty the way it is PJ! I love the green mixed in with that marbled red! Wish we had more sugar maples around here, they look so great! Speaking of looking great, your capture of the maple leaf would fall into that category! Just a hint of things to come from you would be my guess! Nicely composed, I like it!

Well, I'll tell ya what....this is super. You were smart to zero in on one leaf and a most beautiful one at that. The balance in this composition is superb. The star leaf belongs center stage as you have so placed it with backup performed by the trio of lightly colored leafs in the background. The trunk with it's raised limbs is getting ready to conduct a fall symphony. Let the medley begin!

Lovely tri-color leaves against that rich looking bark. Quite lovely, PJ. The clouds didn't prevent you from getting this terrific shot.

See what I mean? All i get out here in Colorado is yellow. I and green with envy at the colors you get from your trees. No, I won't turn yellow and fall off though. Beautiful capture PJ.

You've captured these beautifully colored leaves with glorious detail and clarity. Your composition really hilights their perfection and the tree trunk is a perfect contrast in color and texture. The lighting is just right too.

Excellent photograph PJ! - the leaves are incredibly beautiful being tri-coloured! I like the way you photographed it so close-up against the tree bark - the contrast is excellent. Patti

A great capture of this transition in process! I love how you have the most colorful leaf as the "centerpiece" and how the tree branches out adds a great balance to this pic. Lovely work!
