This marvelous tree sits on the campus of Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH. Not to be confused with a number of other Exeter Acadamies here and on the other side of the pond :) I don't know what kind of tree this is, but there were nuts all around the bottom on the ground, as you can see, and they looked like beechnuts. As I crunched through them I fantasized about how well educated they must be considering how long the mother tree has lived here. I have a dozen more pics to show, but you'd have to be there to believe it :)PJ

Wonderful composition with the framing of the trees. So unique! I wonder if the squirrels like beechnuts! They'd be in squirrel heaven there.

Excellent shot of these old trees! They almost look like multiple trees that have grown together. It's amazing the amount of nuts it produces judging by whats on the ground! What those trees must have been witness to over the years huh? Nice job PJ!

I loved knarled old trees like this. Southern Louisiana is full of them but I do believe you have me outclassed here. This is really beautiful. Are you trying to run off with my title of Tree Queen?

Makes you wonder at this trees age. Love old trees, you've captured this one very well. You get a good visualization of its size from the background colors being displayed. Wouldn't change a thing here. A keeper for sure.

looks like a really old and wonderful old tree PJ! I love the way it's branches have no uniformity to them sprawling out in all directions! Great perspective and imagination taking it from so close-up! Patti

That is a really Harry Potterish looking old tree. I bet it comes to life when everyones asleep.:) We used to have an old oak that was about 5 feet in diameter in the coton field and nasty old tornado came and pulled it up roots and all. I never seen such big roots in all my life. But that old twister yanked it up like pulling up a weed. Thanks for the memories of younger days.

I get really humble when I see an old tree. I like the soft lighting and that you used some of your image for the frame. Great shot. Thanks
