This little fellow was perched on the deck for a reason..he had flown into my sliding glass door that is behind the hummingbird feeder...knocked himself to the boards and was caught in between the one-inch space, head down, wings caught..I used my little finger to gently push him out, feeling his warm soft body, and he sat there for about 5 minutes recovering with eyes closed...I was afraid he wouldn't make it so I stayed back and took telephoto shots of him and when he finally opened his eyes and I was sure he was okay I took this shot and still had to crop this one about 300%...love those 10.1 pixels :). Good news is he flew off to his nest and came back to feed in about an hour, but what a beauty and so glad I was able to help him.

Wow, what a story. That is one lucky little bird. He still looks kind of cranky in this shot, but who could blame him? You did good!

This must be the way he repaid u :P, he didn't recovered as much as he wanted to sit still & let u take photos of him :)... Well, gratz for a job well done ;)...

Beautiful bird well captured, PJ. We had a wild pigeon which hit the living room window at full speed. Sounded like a bomb. He wasn't so lucky like your bird - had to get rid of him.

Wow ... that is an amazing little story and an amazing little birdie ... lovin' that red bib of his/hers. Must have felt nice to help the little one to safety. Even some of the most amazing of God's creatures sometimes needs our help, it seems. Glad you were there, too. Nice shot, BTW :)

Hi PJ,
Such a beautiful thing to do, ♥
I like it, sitting there to take a nap,
I think the crop is a little bit overdone though,
While being quite decent, it does loose a some detail,

Thanks for sharing

Very nice story, PJ!
Nice cute birdy with vivid colors, but I think it's a bit
pity, that the beak has the same color as the floor!
With your 'Magic' you can give it some more contrast!?

Thanks PJ for sharing this story and photo. This happened at my house about 6 months ago with a sparrow. I was so concerned about the little fellow I didn't even think about my camera. It even climbed up on my finger and stared at me. Ten minutes later it flew off. Happy Ending !

It sounds like you have the same problem as we do in our house. Our Birds fly around the gaden to the various feeders we have for them, sadly some of the time, they think they can fly through glass and knock themselves down a little. Most of the time they are okay. but sadly at some other times, I have had to bury a few. More this year than others I have to admit and it breaks my heart every time. This is a real beauty. We don't have humming birds in Northern ireland and I have always loved them from the pictures I have seen on the TV and in books. None have been on a deck like this one and I have to admire your patience. This is a wonderful capture.

Hiya~

What a little trouper!!! And you, super hero enough???? lol, wow. How cute!! I remember one day my cat found this baby bird, it wasn't fully developed still needed feathers and it two gashes cover most it's little body. My family and I took care of it for 2 days then I was left home alone. I was doing some work on the computer I got so focused I forgot about the poor guy. I remember a few hours later and ran to my room. I checked him and sadly he hadn't made it. I remember just breaking down and crying for so long. I made a few prays for him and hoped it was painless. We had tried to get Wires (native animal savers) to save him but he was like a pigeon or something so they couldn't take him. I still remember him but yeah. R.I.P.

But anyways this is a great photo!! Love the colours!!
