This is actually a baby oak I spotted because of the large leaves and the colors, of course. This year it seemed that the oaks were producing huge leaves, and especially the small trees...so if this looks like a pile of leaves, it wasn't..just a sapling aspiring to be a mighty big oak.

I thought you had to check coats on "Wooly Worms" to predict winter. I'll see if I can find one down the road. I think this litte sapling is "rutting." It is the season you know. Very good shot and I too like the Oak Leaves when they change.

So nice leaves, wonderful autumn colors, and the full picture looks nice, the shadows adding a special nice touch, and the framing comes matching to a happy end :D

This reminds me of when I was a kid I'd gather leaves, then iron them with waxed paper to make them last. I smell those leaves PJ! A wonderful image with great lighting. :)
