I hold it true that thoughts are things; They're endowed with bodies, breath and wings: And that we send them forth to fill the world with good results, or ill. That which we call our secret thought speeds forth to earth's remotest spot, leaving it's blessings or it's woes like tracks behind it as it goes. We build our future, thought by thought for good or for ill, yet know it not. Yet so the universe was wrought . Thought is another name for fate. Choose then thy destiny and wait, for Love brings Love and Hate brings Hate. - Henry Van Dyke.

M45 or the Paleides. Definitely a classic from Hubble. In comparison to the Hubble image you can view M45 as taken by an earth based telescope. I will definitely miss Hubble when it's days come to an end.

Yup Phil. The JWST looks promising, but it's still a long way till 2011. Let's just hope Hubble lasts till then ;)

Nice post Phil. This is one feature of the night sky I can always count on finding!

Some arcane trivia, if you don't know already...the Japanese name for the Pleiades cluster is "Subaru". If you look at the logo on the grille of any Subaru vehicle, you will find a stylized depiction of the Pleiades.

Is this really a photo from HST? It looks like it's made in photoshop to me, but I can't say that I've carefully studied astronomy photography before. Does anyone else think this was made in photoshop? =/
