Hmmm this looks interesting and better give a try. I preffer using the Channel mixer option to achieve infrared quality. my image "Heavan is calling" was done that way.

Channel mixer is the best method of creating monochrome from colour if you don’t have specialist IR filters for it and this tutorial uses channel mixer as part of the process. Channel mixing alone however cannot achieve the luminescence of IR correctly which is what the extra bits described here do :-)
