In case you ever wondered how they put the various bits and pieces together that make up the shuttle orbiter launch vehicle - the answer is very carefully. This shot is of Discovery being hoisted onto the external fuel tank in NASA’s vehicle assemble building ready for it’s December construction mission to the ISS.

actually, this is a testament to how far we've come in terms of information. imagine trying to see operations like this years back. it would've been highly classified. great post again
