In contrast to the poor set of launch images – the orbital mission photography is proving much better. This image very quickly became quite an iconic picture appearing on news sites across the world. It features astronauts Jim Reilly and John "Danny" Olivas (visible among Reilly's helmet reflections), in the mission's first planned session of extravehicular activity. Enhanced with CS3 and Noise Ninja.

Thanks for posting this, it's certainly a cracking shot. Any idea of the gear needed for photography in space?

from what I recall, the ISS crew use those regular old Kodak Pro digital SLR's (remember them?) in thermal jackets on EVA's - you can see the astronaut in the helmet reflection holding one. on board the station - again its just standard DSLR's with 400mm lenses. The ISS itself has a remote turret mounted camera in a dome but I cant remember the specs on that.
