Twenty hours worth of exposures here by Robert Gendler. NGC2170 is a collection of predominantly reflection and emission nebulosity in the western part of a vast region known as the Mon R 2 association. The Mon R 2 association formed about 6 to 10 million years ago along the edge of the Mon R2 molecular cloud. You can visit Robert's site for many more great examples of his astrophotography talents as well as his various books and prints for sale.

I love the nebula images that you find and clean up and refresh for us to enjoy Phil. They make the prettiest desktops! I have this on my desktop already and it is really neat with all the stars shining (it looks really cool in the dark office :)
The information that you provide really helps me look at these images in a different way.....not just 'pretty', but rather in awe! The link to the site is way cool.
Once again, thanks for all you do to bring these images up to the beautiful level that you do for me to enjoy.
Not one of them goes unnoticed my me.
To my favorites this goes as well. Many thanks Phil ;=)

The past is only a memory, the future a fantasy. it's only in the present that we truly live.
