Moments after lift off on mission STS-120, Discovery's solid rocket boosters spew columns of fire, creating clouds of smoke and steam. To the left is the fixed service structure, topped by the 80-foot-tall lightning mast. Discovery carries the Italian built Harmony node. During the 14-day mission, the crew will install Harmony and move the several solar arrays to their permanent position and deploy them. Discovery is expected to complete its mission and return home on Nov. 6.
