As you can see, the original image is quite a lot different to the edited version here. I have used my new Velvia and old 55mm filters to bring out the detail and colour as well as noise removal with noise ninja. I also added a cloud scape to break up the dull and flat sky in the original in an attempt to add more interest and reduce banding often found in low contrast vignettes. All composed and edited in Photoshop CS3.

This looks like you hand polished it to give it such a warm color and beautiful shine!
The cloud scape does add interest to the overall image. You are extremely proficient at using PS CS3......I am envious Phil.
NASA should hire you to rework their images prior to releasing them ;=)
I have another image of yours to add to my 'space' collection well as the educational element for the grandkids!
Many thanks for taking the time to do what you do to bring these images forward and give them new life.
Off to my favorites this goes =)

Phil, I see you have changed from NASA to something else LOL
The change is [honestly] for the better !!! LOL
I like the gold glitter here - reminds me Soviet glitters during 1970' and 1980' and in fact since the beginning of Russian empire. All had to LOOK rich and beautiful and immaculate. Forgive my lecturing but the older I get the more knowledge I feel must be conveyed to others [who can only run away seeing me approach LOL]
Thanks so much for this treat and happy New Year !!!!

As always you make THEIR photos better. And we wonder why NASA is not known by everyone any more.

I wonder why Phil isn't a NASA employee.

...or maybe he is ;-)

Great post, Phil. This thing gleams and shimmers like a newly-polished copper pot.

Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.
