Preparations are underway for liftoff of the Expedition 18 crew as the transporter rotates the launch vehicle with the Soyuz spacecraft to the vertical position on the launch pad at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Friday for an expected launch today.

The crew includes the station commander, NASA astronaut Michael Fincke as well as American ‘space tourist’ Richard Garriott. The crew will stay on the station for six months, while Garriott will return to Earth Oct. 24 with the Expedition 17 crewmembers currently on the station.

I'm a little stunned and a lot claustrophobic just looking at the exterior. A great photo to get perspective with.
