i used a tripod and relearned some basic photo. technique. i hope this is more in focus and sharper than in the past

You are correct, Mike, This is sharper than in the past. well done on that. Looks like you're tilted off to the clockwise just a bit though. Nice job on using a fast shutter speed to freeze his wings and water. I love shots of water frozen in midair and mid ripple, etc.
