squire boone (dan's dad) was a blacksmith by trade. this is a blacksmith shop, shipped in from nearby amityville. not squire's but one that looks like he might have owned.

It's amazing to think of just how essential a blacksmith was back in the day. When I attended the Tunbridge Fair Days there was a working smithy pounding out whatever it was they were making, and even today they seemed to know what they were all about. A lost art, of course, as there is not a need for it, but it's amazing to think of how important they once were..great shot and you certainly stirred my grey matter :)
