Found this little Piper in the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge near Frenchglen Oregon, during its' annual migration. I was photographing ducks and all the while the little fellow was only 4 feet in front of me. So well camouflaged that I didn't see the 3-inch high bird until I was almost ready to leave.

Excelllent capture...right place at the right time. Was this shot taken with a very large aperture to get the shallow depth of field?

I imagine a bird like this might be a good subject; due to their camoflage it's defense technique may be just to stay still when you approach and hope not to be noticed (I wish all birds behaved like that for me). He certainly blends in well. Nicely done and good composition.

wonderful shot. i like the fact that you framed it so the bird is in camouflaged in it's natural territory. the fact that you had a large aperature makes the pic even better, it makes the bird better to see. thanks for sharing.
