We are in the Tennessee woodlands out side of The Great Smoky National Park. An old homestead is all but forgotten and decayed. What a lonely feeling to this place and yet at the same time it was one of rebirth. As Mother nature reclaims herself.

I much prefer your images without the black crop margins on top and bottom (such as this one). In any case, Michael, ALL your images are absolutely the best in all aspects, and I so much appreciate your postings here on caedes. Many thanks, Tracy.

Jacqueline is right, it does make you wonder about it's prior inhabitants. What was their life like, how did they spend their days. Places like this always have an aura about them, like you are doing a bit of time travel while you are there. Thanks for sharing this Michael!

This picture makes wonder why the place was abandoned, what drove the people away. It’s a powerful image beautifully presented.

A cabin in the woods by a brook. It may not be standing but I can see the life and smell the fireplace just by the footprint that it left. Thanks for including the whole scene. There in lies it's story.
