This image was taken in Hells Canyon approximately at China Bar Rapids. The River here provideda place large enough for a small farm. The Snake River as it flows through Hells Canyon has few roads to the River. At the deepest point it is the deepest canyon in the US, even deeper than the Grand Canyon. At its deepest point it is 7,900 ft (2,400 meters). There are few places that are large enough to have human habitation and yet there are people living there. It is one of a very few locations where the US mail is delivered by boat (jet boats at that).

This takes me back to the times when land really looked like this Anywhere USA....farmland that is. Good filter,....like the softness & the yellow flowers add a cheeriness to it! Thanks :)

My parents got a rake just like that. (It's just as rusty but they have actually used it quite a lot during the hay-making ever since they took over the family-farm here in south-east of Sweden.) It's from the days my grandfather had the farm.

Nice shot as usual. I guess I'll be quite shocked the day I find you posting a photo lacking in quality... ;)

I really enjoy how the colors break up the picture into distinct and interesting shapes. A very nice photo. The shapes all meet just to the right of the rake - making a path for the eye to follow into the picture.

I remember coming south from Spokan...and we just "happened" to suddenly realize we were driving on the very edge of a cliff..I was so afraid, I hid on the floor, and when another car tried to pass it was almost the end of it all!! OH gawd....and then we kept driving...and suddenly we realized that the snake river was far far below us on the east side of that hiway...I couldnt even go to take a picture I was so afraid..NOW I KNOW WHY..I never knew it was THAT deep!!.....wow..........but thisphoto of yours is just so beautiful!!!!!

This is a very great and artistic piece. It looks like something you might see on a travel brochure (spelling?) or maybe the opening shot in a movie about hard times in the south? I dont know. It's really thought provoking for me. Thank you.

Looks like another one of yours that I missed. I'm glad I found it. I can't find the words to describe how pleasing the green grasses balanced againt the yellow buttercups (?) is to my eye. Neither color is harsh, yet totally separated one from the other. The starkness of the old rake is icing on the cake. Even the wood gate in the rear adds a touch of grace.
Well executed...as usual.
