This rock seems to anchor the skeleton of a dead alpine pine, keeping it from falling to the ground. This image was taken on the Menashtash Ridge outside Ellensburg Washington, early in the spring.

Is this the same tree in that LL Bean ad of yours 'Catching Some Rays' ? Looks a lil' different. I'm gonna name my next child 'Menashtash' .. good for a mountain, good for a kid.
