While out photographing around Mt St Helens last year this little finch landed on the branch looking for grubs. It posed for me long enough to get 3 shots off. This is the only decent one of the bunch. I hope you enjoy.
A very fine photograph of a lovely little bird - and it led me to Spring In The Clouds which was an added bonus.
The framing on this sets it off perfectly.
Such a curious look on its face, probably contemplating the precise moment it can grab a quick lunch . Very nice phot- so crisp and clear. You can see every detail on its face.
It may be the only decent one but is it ever a beauty. It's all you needed. What a beautiful bird, and he's looking right at you. Definitly crisp and clear capture. Well done.

Now this is precious..and the colours are so vivid !! Looks like it paid off to take this photo..I love the little finches, we have a lot of them here also...A most lovely photo and the framing does it much justice Michael..thank you so much...verena
Do you use a tripod or monopod while hiking? The focus here is dead on and I can't imagine opening up a tripod at lightning speed when you only have a few seconds before the creature is gone. Lovely color saturation here as wel It really shows off the markings.
Wow Michael, I don't know how I missed this [pretty finch when you first posted it! I love the golden finches. They sound so pretty and are so pleasing to the eye. This one is delightful with the bit of red on the face area. I like the way the log is blurred and the finch is focused. Is this the result of your manual focusing? I am now venturing (very early) into that area of my camera. Hope you don't mind the questions :)
Thanks for your warms words and recent visit to ~evening delight~. I am really trying out my camera finally and making ME do some work instead of letting the camera do it. I know of no better place than this site to let other photographers give me comments. critique and advice. Thanks you for taking the time to drop by. Your visits are always pleasant. Give my best to DiAnn. We will be in touch soon. Thanks again :~)
Enjoy these bird images so much. This is a little beauty and look how inquisitive he seems. I don't know how you get the bird to stay - they usually fly off just as one starts to get the camera out! Wonderful rich color on him. Beautiful work...Oh, I like the frame you used :>
