While escaping form the heat of the house, the family went up to Mt. Rainier and Chinook Pass in Washington State. On the way back down from Chinook Pass, I stopped at a little lake by the road, Lake Tipsoo, and shot this seven image panoramic. This is a crop from the original, which is 4912x1857 pixels, a bit much for most backgrounds. The original is visable here. I've got my own thoughts about this image, and I'll be interested to see what the Caedes community have to say.

First of all I strongly encourage to view the full size photo or even better the original. Now, you have presented a nice panorama capture. However I am afraid it is not eye-pleasing due to the sun glow which for some can be unacceptable. Perhaps it wouldn't be so disturbing if you waited a couple of minutes till the sun goes down a bit and is not that strong anymore. You could try to alleviate the shadows in the editor to get some details out of the dark areas. I think you should rework the image, it has potential you could bring to the light.

I was lucky to get this in the voting booth and voted high on it... I love this shot... you have captured the light very well... I think the sun and the rays set the scene beautifully... really like this one... well done

I enjoyed the reflection on the lake, the sun's rays and the sky color. There is a little noise in the shadows that might be eliminated with Neat Image or NoiseWare or other noise reduction software. Good job and thanks for sharing.

I agree that you could reduce the noise in the shadows, other than that, it's a spectacular scene :)

A very lovely serene setting, Eric. I really like the sun's rays and the effect it has on the trees and surrounding area just under it. The sky is gorgeous as is the reflections in the water. I would agree with the others about the noise in the shadows, otherwise, very well done!

Thanks for the comments, folks. The noise in the shadows is what bothers me the most about this. I did run it through Neat Image, and this is the post processing image. It's going to take a whole lot more work to really get that noise down.

Incredible shot, the only imperfections are camera and lens faults (noise and flaring) although i actually like the flaring, i prefer the panarama but your right about the desktop format. long story short, well done
