Love your angled perspective with the flower set against the blurred fence / sky. Perhaps the flower could be a tad sharper & not sure if you were going for a softer look. It still is a lovely shot & I'm enjoying it alot. Nice colors & composition too. Well done.

I'm not sure why people do that. I've always wanted constructive criticism on my photos. If all you get is the "Nice Shot" comments, your postings will look the same in 10 years because you'll never learn anything.

I am horrible with flower photos, but I'll tell you what my Caedes friends have told me, and some of them are fantastic flower photographers. First of all, you get high marks for originality and for colors. You've created an interesting composition because of the angle you used for the shot of the flower.

However, a good flower shot needs a couple of components to excel. The depth of field has to be right on the button, and this one is off. It's a little short in that part of the flower is in perfect focus and part is not. So you need to widen the depth of field. Also a good flower shot must be very crisp and clear. This isn't quite sharp enough as noted by danika above. Believe me, I know this because that's the comment I always get on my flower postings. Finally the background must be dark and blurred so that the subject of the image "pops". While you're background is blurred, the complexity draws the eye away from the flower. As I said, the background must be dark. Because your background is on the light side, part of the flower stem is quite dark.

I don't believe I've ever taken a really good flower shot. It's a special art that escapes me. But because I try and because I ask my Caedes friends for brutal honesty, my postings have improved. When you pick your Caedes friends, you'll have to decide if you're here at Caedes for positive strokes or to improve your postings. If you're after the "nice shot" crowd, I see where you can start.

To err is human. To forgive was never my strong suit.

I agree about wanting the flower to be a tad sharper, but I like the bright background. I think the yellow flower against the blue sky is lovely and is what caught my eye initially. I also like how you got down to ground level and looked up at the flower.

Thank you Palra1 Yes, I like constructive criticism! I like people to be honest with me. I actually tried to make it softer, but I'll re-do and sharpen it. :) Thank ya'll!
