It's hard not to like these birds. The amusing way they walk, scurrying away when you surprise them, or when they do tight-rope style balancing acts on fences (often losing their balance and falling). We even studied the body language they use to communicate to one an other in biology. This one (along with it's partner) has been calling our neighbourhood home for the last month or so. I tried to use the right as negative space here, which also gives people some space to put their icons (if anyone actually uses this as a background). I hope you can appreciate the inquisitive and cautious nature of these funny little birds from it's pose. <FULL VIEW>

Crackin Clear shot.....you call these 'swamp' hens!...probably the same as our 'Marsh' hens!.......excellent post.........

What an awesome shot - the details are vivid ... the color variations on the feathers and the markings on its beak ... and very thoughtful to leave icon space so the bird doesn't have to be overlapped. What a character ... I have never seen this bird before, but there's just a look about him that makes me believe this species is rather enthralling.... and possibly good for a few laughs.

Beautiful shot! I've never seen a hen like that before. o.O lol ..We recently got a 'pet' chicken and her name is Terry. I've taken a few shots and might be posting them soon. Anywho, I like this pic, into the faves. ^_^
