That's a well worn staircase and hand rail. I don't know if it's the shadow or the framing of this image that makes me think this is in an alley. Where ever it is, there is nice visible detail in the shadow and nice contrast with the bright areas. I am intrigued by the two pieces of knotted twine around the baluster and one of the rails. The image makes me wonder and fantasize.
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

I had this in VB and it was a very pleasant surprise! I love the textures and the fact that a simple shot like this seems to tell a story. You just wonder about things...
Great eye for capturing this!

I'm very far behind in my comments due to some recent family issues so please forgive this generic comment. I have viewed this image and found it to be very good. I didn't want to pass it by with out mentioning it's beauty. Thank you for sharing it with us. You have created a very beautiful image and I envy your talent. I hope to view more of your work and give a more personal comment in the near future. Your images are awsome. Lovely composition.

Anything that excites me for any reason, I will photograph; not searching for unusual subject matter, but making the commonplace unusual.

Oh Pierre, I love the feeling of this photo! It gives such a
mystery to me! I can almost feel myself getting ready to grab hold of the railing as I turn to walk slowly upward and wonder what will be at the top. Very nicely done my friend. Verena
A lovely study in light and shade, Pierre. The contrasts between the different textures and the plain black shadow are particularly pleasing, as is the symmetry of the angles about the newel post. Very nice work :-)
