Found this herd of Deer's outside the Wayanad forest reserve. I had no chance of getting near, as this beautiful alpha male became alert and aware of my presence very early. I had to hide behind a tree to get this one. With my 18-55 lens I couldn't zoom enough to get a close up shot of this beauty. The image has been heavily cropped, I know this is not my best shot, but I just wanted to share this. Best viewed in full size. All comments and critiques welcome.

I really like this shot - I counted at least 8 deer when I full sized it. I think you did a very nice job with the lens you had.

Oh Prashanth! What a magnificent animal he is! How proud he looks, and the other one as well, protecting each other. I think it's fantastic you got this photo, it looks great. I'm glad that he was still long enough for you to take this. Am so glad you shared this with us. It's truly beautiful. Verena

You did a great job with this one Prashanth. The haziness and lighting adds a nice mood to the shot. A lovely capture of these axis deer. A nice composition in your photo with lots to see.
Maybe if you dressed up as an elf you could get closer to these beautiful deer. :P

This is very good, P. Fantastic lighting and color. That big one on the right sure is a handsome fellow. I have never run across this many deer, except in captivity.

It is definitely the deer that make the shot. Nice herd!

Glad you posted it; I like it! Tweaking a contrast a bit more imho might make this look even better than it already is.
