Madenur Dam was constructed before its mighty cousin, Linganamakki Dam was built. After the completion of the Linganamakki Dam, this dam got submerged. This dam is a engineering marvel, constructed using clay, jaggery and limestone, the dam is still intact even after almost 70 years!!

A nice view of the dam, Prashanth. Quite the engineering feat and a testament to the builders skills.

Good morning, Prashanth...

Your narrative seems to have an extra dam in there. You said, "...the Linganamakki Dam it dam got submerged." I wasn't sure if you were trying to say "damn dam" or "damn near got submerged".

Great photo of the dam. It seems a little flat to me although if you want to see flat, take a look at my latest posting. Anyway, I might suggest a click or two of contrast. Also you have a bunch of negative space on the bottom with the foreground of all that water AND quite a bit of negative space with a less than dramatic sky. The horizontal ribbon in the middle has all the good stuff. If this was my posting, I might have got rid of half the sky, half the water, and then cropped a little off the left and even more off the right. That's what you get for asking.

A panoramic view might be better with this scene, Prashant. The subject is not good for this aspect ratio. Clear and sharp image. Thanks for your great narrative.

Dorothy makes a good suggestion to crop sky 'or' water. It will draw more emphasis to the dam itself. It is good if you can keep the horizon 1/3 of the way up or down in the image. A crop from either side works too. Don't be afraid to lose something from the image. I am like thatin not wanting to give up anything. I want people to see everything I saw, but it is too distracting to see it all when it is in a frame, so we have to draw attention to the subject as much as we can by cropping what is not necessary. Other than that, the shot is at a good angle and the colors and detail are really good.

If the sky and water were a deeper colors, then this scene would be a perfect 10 in my book. With the colors being what they are, I agree with the cropping suggestions. Nice photo though.
