This is a shot from Dambulla cave temple-Sri Lanka built in 1st Century BC. The temple is built using five main caves. This is a scene from Cave No II (Maha-Raja_Viharaya or the Temple of the great King)is the largest and the most impressive one within the complex. The cave is seventy-two feet long, seventy five feet broad and twenty one feet high, at the entrance.According to current lore, this shrine was founded by the Great king Vatta Gamini Abhaya. The paintings and sculpture here are well conceived. I visited this temple early morning with a tripod to acheive this. Apologies for the bright light since the long exposures are required to capture the details of the walls.

It’s a wonderful photo on several counts. The subject and history are fascinating, your composition is very good as is your handling of the very tricky light conditions. It looks like every inch of the walls and ceiling has been decorated.

Hi Priyantha, this is simply marvelous in it's extraordinary beauty! You have taught us much of your life style, your ways of thinking, your philosophies, culture, your trama as a result of the great Tsunami, and I say thank you once again Priyantha! We have chatted back and forth on occasion, and how much I have enjoyed this! I have learned much from you, and this very special 'Golden' piece of art and history is no exception! As we have also agreed upon, is how this communication is made possible, incomprehensible, isn't it, the great 'NET"! Ah, the great net indeed! Very beautiful piece of work here and I thank you! Sincerely, Marilyn
