First things first..

A big thank you to Vicki; aka Vickid for allowing me to use her image; "Still..... and serene......".

To my eyes, it's one of those iconic images that are quite emotive. Solitude and peace, for example.

So, a simple manipulation.. towards the creative end goal of taking advantage of a strong silhouette (after the post processing fact) and then, that of adding some glorious colour and a 'sky' courtesy of NASA.

On that latter note.. the image of the galaxy can be found here. (Credit: NASA/JPL.)

Oh, and one more thing..

Caught this image, titled; "Moonlit Tree".. that was uploaded yesterday by Wendell. It seems rather apparent that one of us needs to close our drapes to prevent the other from cutting in on the other's creative ideas.

Not saying which one of us.. but..

(*points in the other direction*)

This transforms a fine photo into something quite specular. It looks 3D and "real" , most excellent...Fav.

Thanks, peeps.

Appreciate yous taking the time to share your thoughts. :o)

... ...

Just goes to show that we are not necessarily the best judges of our own stuff.

'Cause..

I mean.. I like this one.

But, it really was for me? (And whatever stragglers came along after the fact.)

Certainly not taking anything away from Vicki's original.. just wasn't sure what kind of reception my version would get after I messed around with Vicki's photo.

Thanks again.

Les, I saved & faved this. But my suggestion would be to remove the soft light on the left. I know it is in the original photo on your link, but all the other light features have a sharpness to them that is dramatic and a little exciting. The soft light draws the eye away from that.

I know that artistic work like this is open to a lot of interpretation...and maybe others would see it differently ...this is just my opinion. Anyway, it's a gorgeous image.

Thanks very much, Connie.

I really appreciate the constructive criticism.

That one area of soft light is something that escaped any scrutiny on my part. But, now reading your words and looking at the image in a new light (couldn't resist).. it's something to consider towards the ends of improvement. And more so, as you make mention.. creative cohesion (<-- I might have just made this term up.. but, it fits?).

Thanks once again for taking the time to share your thoughts. :o)

You managed to surprise me. "What's this????"

When I first zoomed in, I thought the same as Connie about the big white light -- it's a little too soft compared with the rest of the image.

Apart from that, I like the vivid colour, the outline of the tree and the sharp stars. I hope you keep on with this new-found creativity.

Would you believe I live in a bunker and have no windows to peer through? Spy satellites on the other hand...; you're running low on milk and cookies.

If the night sky looked like this I would never see daylight. Good rework and manipulation of Vicki's image. A spectacular sky and colours.
