The dogs and I hiked out in the sticks until sunset last night. I have a friend who owns this property; so we meandered our way west for an hour and then turned around. The dogs had a ball chasing the ground squirrels and wild turkeys. I am sore.

This will be my last posting for a bit. I am headed down to San Diego to visit my 94 year old father. He froze his toes at the Battle of the Bulge. Before they amputated, he asked if there was anything he could do to save his toes. The doctor told him to walk as much as possible. He still has his toes and walks a mile and a half at the dog park every day and we will be walking at the pier as well. I hope I can keep up with him.

[Glad to be the first to comment...] There are some Caedesians who don't like darkness in their photographs, or in those of others, deigning not to comment on or even approve them. I find there is so much to interpret in the darker fields. The viewer is required to study the image longer, more in-depth, to get the full story the capture is telling. Many wouldn't even determine that this is a road that crosses some farmer's or rancher's pasture land, indicated by the gate over the road on the right side, or that a storm is approaching. They might even take issue with all the red, forgetting that on certain kinds of sunsets, this is exactly what it can look like. I think it's well done. [By the way, my father-in-law was there at the Bulge as well, but I was not lucky enough to meet him to hear about it first-hand. Please thank your father for his service.]

This is a lovely shot - The way the glow of the setting sun has lit up the whole area in that reddish light looks very nice. Excellent shot Dot.
94 and still going strong ! If you have your father's genes you should be prepared for a long long life too.

Have a good stay in San Diego, Dorothy. Please say 'Hello' from me to your father, and tell him about my respect and admiration.

Thanks for this very moody sunshine shot. Not a one of the category 'twelve in a dozen', but a very special one!

Dot, I totally understand what Nik wrote in his comment, for me I like the dark images, not everything is sun lit, and I think you have done a fantastic job on this one. That sky, the lead in, and the view beyond! Enjoy your visit with your dad, and I want to thank him for his service, and so glad he has been able to still get out and about. tigs=^..^=
